Sustainability Through Air-Sealing

Most insulation types only deliver R value, but building science teaches us that an air seal like that provided by Icynene spray foam insulation is vital for total building performance.

By protecting against air leakage, Icynene spray foam insulation can provide up to 50% energy savings, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by thousands of tons per year. The related monetary savings can exceed the insulation price in just a few years.

This energy-saving air seal also seals out airborne noises, pollutants, allergens and moisture, providing healthier indoor air and helping to prevent condensation and mold in a quieter environment.

Furthermore, because Icynene spray foam insulation provides lasting performance plus air-sealing in a single step, it can reduce the amount of building materials required and help shorten construction schedules. A contractor can spray up to 50 m2/hour.

Actually, Icynene LDC-50 foam components are concentrated 100 times! In other words, we only transport 1/100th of the final product to the construction site. The carbon foot print of our product transportation is therefore minimal.

Sustainability Through Innovative Insulation Foam Spray Formulas

Many spray foam insulation products use HFCs (hydrofluorocarbons) as blowing agents and contain PBDEs (polybrominated diphenylethers) for fire resistance. The problem is, HFCs have a high global warming potential (GWP), and PBDEs can be toxic to both humans and the environment.

All Icynene spray foam insulation products are PBDE-free, and HFC-free and benefit from a REACH certificate. In fact, ICYNENE LD-C-50® and ICYNENE MD-R-210™ are 100% water-blown (with no synthetic blowing agents).

Icynene LDC-50™ was independently tested in Europe per ISO 16000-9, it has no pollutant or hazardous substance.

Icynene is part of the UK Green Building Council and endorsed by the European Association for the Environmental and Chronic Toxic Injury.
